Scope of application:

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of the strand tensile test method, test principle, sample preparation, test equipment, test procedures and test reports.

This standard is applicable to the determination of breaking tensile of various types of steel stranded wire and wire rope products. If otherwise specified in the relevant product standards, it shall be implemented in accordance with its provisions.

Test principle:

At normal temperature, the tensile force is applied to the sample, generally to the occurrence of broken wire, broken strands or broken rope, and the tensile strength or other mechanical properties of the steel strand are measured.

Selection of test equipment:
The ZCG-W steel strand tensile testing machine is selected; the steel strand tensile testing machine is tested according to the national standard and should be first-class or better than the first-class; the distance between the chucks of the steel tensile testing machine should meet the following table.

experiment procedure:

1. Under normal circumstances, the test should be carried out at room temperature between 10 °C and 35 °C. If there are special requirements, the test temperature should be 23 ° C ± 5 ° C.

2. The test should be carried out smoothly. When the applied tensile force is not more than 80% of the minimum breaking force of the steel strand, the test force can be applied quickly and then slowly increased. The applied stress rate is about 10 MPa/s.

3. For the casting method, the cast sample is placed in the jaw seat to perform the tensile test. For the steel strand tensile tester, let the lower jaws hang, adjust the specimen so that it coincides with the axis of the jaw seat, adjust the zero point of the test machine, and then carry out the tensile test.

4. For the sleeve pressing method, the tensile test is performed by directly clamping the sample of the sleeve into the jaws.

5. For the direct clamping method, the tensile test can be carried out by directly clamping the two ends of the sample in the jaws.

6. For the winding method, first clamp the sample, then wrap the sample around the test wheel, tighten the sample, and finally clamp the other end to perform the tensile test.

7. When determining the breaking force of the steel strand, if it is necessary to measure the elongation, it is recommended to use the casting method. According to the agreement, the initial breaking tension or the breaking force and the fracture characteristics can be measured.

8. If the sample is broken within 1d (30 mm) from the chuck or tangent point, the test is invalid. When the measured breaking force meets the relevant standards, the test is valid, otherwise the test is invalid.

9. Judgment result: The tensile force when the sample is broken (single strand broken wire) is taken as the measured breaking force.

10. For arbitration tests, if there is no provision in the product standard, the test method is determined by the parties to the dispute.
