The second is to shorten the size of the spring (while reducing the internal stress of the spring), making the structure more compact. The third is that when one valve spring breaks, the other spring can still support the valve, which can prevent the valve from falling into the cylinder and causing a "cylinder" accident.

If there is no special equipment, you can string the new and old springs, use the spacers in the middle, and then compress the spring on the bench vise. If the length of the old spring is smaller than the length of the standard spring after compression, the elastic force has been weakened (see photo). .

It is also possible to place the inspected valve spring on the flat plate at the same time as the standard spring, and then visually check whether the free lengths of the two are the same. If the free length of the old valve spring is shorter than the standard spring by more than 3 mm, it should be replaced. In general, when the spring's spring force is reduced by 10%, a new spring of the same specification should be replaced.

Simple inspection of valve spring force (2) deformation. Check the valve spring for bending, twisting, and tilting. Check the valve spring on the plate, compress it to a certain extent, and check with a square. The gap of the upper end surface of the valve spring should not be less than 1. 5mm, or the inclination of the center line of the spring should not exceed 2°. Otherwise, even if the elastic force meets the requirements, it should be replaced, or the deformed spring is annealed and shaped, and then heat treated to restore its performance.

(3) Damage. Inspect the valve spring for cracks, breaks, or signs of friction. It can be inspected by magnetic flaw detection. If any cracks of any nature are found on the entire length of the spring, new parts should be replaced.

(4) Other disorders. For example, the original color of the valve spring changes, indicating that the spring has been annealed by high temperature, and its elasticity and strength are greatly reduced and should be replaced. If the spring is corroded, the diameter of the spring wire has been reduced, and its elastic force is inevitably weakened, and it should be replaced in time.

4. Several measures to extend the service life of the valve spring (1) to maintain a good technical state of the engine. If the valve leaks, or the valve clearance is not accurate, the high temperature and high pressure gas in the cylinder will often flush the valve spring, which will anneal and lose its elasticity.

(2) Avoid long-term compression of the valve spring during engine parking. To this end, the single-cylinder diesel engine should be placed in the compression top dead center position during parking, at which time the intake and exhaust valves are closed and the valve spring is not compressed.

(3) Master the correct disassembly method to avoid plastic deformation of the valve spring. The valve spring is a compressive spring and must therefore be prevented from overstretching.

(4) Develop good operating habits and do not tamper with the throttle to avoid the impact of the valve spring.

5. Emergency treatment method for valve spring damage When the valve spring is damaged, and the regular accessories can not be found at one time, the following methods can be used for emergency: (1) If the valve spring becomes soft, a flat washer with a thickness of about 2 mm can be used, attached to the spring. On the seat, in order to increase the preload of the spring.

(2) If the valve spring is broken, it can be removed, and then the flushed end of the spring is placed against each other, and the broken end is directed toward the spring seat, so that it can be used temporarily.
