Do you know the five types of common types of plastics for vehicles?

According to statistics, in 2011, the average amount of plastic used in developed countries reached more than 300kg/unit, accounting for 20% of the whole vehicle's kerb quality. However, by 2020, the average amount of plastic used by vehicles in developed countries will reach 500kg/unit. The most widely used varieties of automotive plastics are the following.

Polypropylene (pp)

In typical passenger cars, pp plastic parts account for more than 60. The main varieties of pp auto parts are: bumper, battery casing, instrument panel, door trim panel, steering wheel, etc.

Polyethylene (pe)

Through the graft modification and filling toughening modification of high-density pe and low-density pe resin, a series of modified pe alloy materials with flexibility, weather resistance and coating performance are obtained. The pe material mainly uses blow molding methods to produce fuel tanks, ventilation pipes, deflectors and various types of storage tanks.

Abs resin

It is a terpolymer of three monomers of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. It can be used to make automotive exterior or interior parts such as instrument housings, refrigeration and heating systems, toolboxes, handrails, radiator grills and instrument panels. Skin, trunk, glove box cover, etc.

Polyamide (pa)

Commonly known as nylon, it has high impact strength, friction and wear resistance, heat resistance, chemical resistance, lubricity and dyeability. Pa can be used in harsh environments around car engines.

POM

It has excellent friction and wear resistance, long-term sliding characteristics, molding fluidity, surface beauty and gloss characteristics, and is also suitable for insert molding.

Polyoxymethylene three-layer composite materials are widely used in automobile chassis bushings and the like.
