Wacker Chemie AG recently introduced a UV-activated silicone elastomer material POWERSIL UV that is suitable for medium and high voltage insulation technology. According to reports, the cross-linking process of UV-activated silicone materials is initiated by ultraviolet irradiation compared to conventional silicone elastomers that are cross-linked by heating and then automatically hardened at room temperature. Wacker's UV cross-linking technology has two significant advantages: First, the cross-linking speed is very fast; second, it does not release any decomposition products when it is hardened. WACKER's UV cross-linking technology enables flexible and low-cost processing of silicone elastomers.
